Saturday 3rd November saw Norwich School host the first in a series of Maths Masterclasses for local Year 5 Pupils and their parents. The day saw 50 families from a range of Norfolk primary schools experience a morning of maths exploration and learning.

Norwich School pupil Alex Illing (L5E) had a successful weekend at the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing 2018 Grand Finals. The ISTD Grand Finals took place on the 3rd and 4th November at The Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Congratulations to pupil, Jonathan Jolly (U6S), on being commended in the senior section of the Choir Schools Association (CSA) Centenary Composition Competition 2018. 

This year’s competition celebrated the CSA centenary and remembered the many choristers who served and sacrificed their lives during WW1. It was opened up to all pupils and choristers at choir schools and in cathedral choirs belonging to CSA and also saw the introduction of a new category for children aged 14-18.

Saturday afternoon saw an historical event take place in Norwich Cathedral. Those present were honoured to hear the author C J Sansom in conversation with his friend and fellow author William Shaw.

This event, hosted by Norwich School, Jarrold, and Pan Macmillan, was special for several reasons; CJ Sansom has been undergoing treatment for cancer for some time, and this was his first appearance in public for a number of years. For the Norwich audience the event was particularly exciting as the novel under discussion, Tombland, the seventh in the highly-acclaimed Shardlake series, is set in Norwich, and sees the lawyer Shardlake staying at the Maid’s Head hotel and visiting numerous Norwich landmarks, including the Cathedral and Castle, the Market, Mousehold Heath, and many more.

As part of the school's wider Remembrance Day commemorations to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, Norwich School has taken part in the nationwide campaign ‘There But Not There’ with silhouettes representing Norwich School Old Norvicensians who died in the war.

Norwich School Amnesty Group were busy last academic year raising awareness of modern slavery. 

Following a talk by anti-slavery activist Mark Little, Norwich School Amnesty Group decided to lend a hand at combating this crime, which is estimated to result in some 40 million people being enslaved worldwide.

The school’s Amnesty Group organised a variety musical evening, with the hope to raise the balance of funds required to help an anti-slavery organisation called 'YouCanFreeUs' operating in Mumbai, India, to acquire a bus. The bus was needed to help with the rehabilitation of the women and girls rescued from sexual exploitation in the Indian State of Maharashtra.

Norwich School pupil Robbie Stevens wins 'Best Stage Act' at the Magic Circle Annual Juniors Competition

On Monday 15th October, 17 runners from the Cross Country Club braved the weather and traveled to Farlingaye, Suffolk, for the first round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup.

Over the weekend, Laura-Rose Cooke (U6C),  competed for England in the Salamunov Memorial 2018 - an international gymnastics competition in Slovenia. She left with three individual gold, two silvers and the team trophy, the most decorated gymnast at the competition. It was her second international gymnastics title in the space of a year.

The entire school gathered this morning to remember our most famous ON, Horatio Nelson, at the annual Trafalgar Day Service. Even our youngest pupils (aged 4) gathered around the statue of Lord Nelson and stood in silence as trumpeters played the Last Post and Reveille.

On Wednesday 10th October, thirty two members of the school's Chapel Choir travelled to London to sing for the annual Dyers' Service at St James Garlickhythe in the City of London.

Richard Halsall (ex. England Cricket fielding coach and Bangladesh assistant coach) visited Norwich School on Wednesday 10th October to run an assessment day which will assist selection for the 2018/19 intake for the Cricket Academy (a partnership between Sussex County Cricket Club and Norwich School).

Norwich School pupils from Intermediate Orchestra are invited at the beginning of each academic year to an afternoon’s workshop at Town Close School, Norwich School took 23 musicians this year.

Norwich School and Jarrold, in association with his publishers, Pan Macmillan, are delighted to welcome C.J. Sansom to Norwich for a unique event to celebrate the publication of Tombland on Saturday 3rd November 2018 from 1pm - 3.30pm . The book is the seventh in the author’s epic series of best-selling and critically acclaimed historical novels featuring the lawyer Matthew Shardlake.

Norwich School pupil Amy Buck (L6P) has been selected for the Rank Leadership Programme 2018. 

The programme accepts around 40 pupils each year from across the UK. Pupils are put forward by their school for having 'outstanding leadership potential'.

U6 devised play "Game of Secrets" has gone on tour to various secondary schools in Norfolk this autumn.

On Friday 21st September, 300 people attended the annual Norfolk Youth Cricket dinner and award presentation evening. Several Norwich School pupils attended the event, and some were presented with awards during the evening.

In Cathedral Assembly on 2nd October, Norwich School pupils and staff got the chance to hear all about 'Seeing Things', an innovative art exhibition in which local artists have represented the ‘hallucinations’ of visually-impaired and blind people suffering from a common but little understood condition.
