Late cup heartbreak on the football field

14 November 2023

1st XI Football v Repton

For the first in Norwich School's history, the boys 1st XI played in the Third Round of the ISFA Boodles Cup. Being drawn at home against Repton, one of the leading football schools in the country, was also going to be a difficult task. To the team's credit, they started the game off extremely well by staying compact without the ball and efficient and effective when in possession. Goals from Ryan Gray (2) and Luie Valentine put us into a three goal lead. Our team performance was a truly remarkable effort and forced Repton to abandon their usual playing style into a very direct approach. Whilst defending with determination and desire throughout, unfortunately our opponents quality came through in the end. Three goals in the final 20 minutes plus an injury time strike made it 4-3 to Repton. This result should not take anything away from the team's performance and every individual playing their part against first class opponents.

Man of the match: Noah Rastrick
