World Book Day 2023 saw Norwich School buzzing with activity yet again.
Many pupils and staff prepared for the day by baking an amazing assortment of cakes – from brownies to cupcakes, with sprinkles and smarties, and even some book-themed cakes!
Alongside the Bake Sale, pupils joined in with a Book Swap, bringing in books that they had read and enjoyed, to swap for a new one to put on their To Read pile.
Pupils around the Senior school were interviewed about their reading habits for the school podcast Close Conversations, with the interviewers also visiting Lower School pupils, who were dressed in full book-themed costumes, to capture some of their fun as well.
Throughout the day a Match the Shelfie to the Selfie competition ran, where pupils and staff were challenged to guess the member of staff from a picture of their bookshelf. Some staff’s shelves were harder to guess than others, with hints on show such as running medals (Mr Manton), rocks (Mr Rowlandson) and of course, books from their subject (Mr Croston, Mrs Williams-Goff amongst others).
The winners of the competition, who all won a book voucher for Book Bugs and Dragon Tales independent bookseller, were:
L4 Grace Adlam
U4 Selina Ip
(L5 - no entries)
M5 Kyriel Finn
U5 Dexter Limpenny/George Wilson (joint winners)
L6 Imie James
U6 Sol El-Naggar and Amy Beadman
Over £216 was raised from the bake sale and all proceeds will go to the World Book Day partner charities, including Book Aid International, National Literacy Trust, The Reading Agency and Read for Good.
