Norwich School's Richard Sims to cycle 400 miles in 4 days for charity

11 July 2023

Norwich School's Richard Sims will soon be embarking on another epic journey on two wheels, having already taken part in the charity bike from Norwich to Rouen earlier this year.

Richard, Head of Repton House, will be cycling 400 hundred miles in 4 days as he travels across the country from St David's in Wales to Lowestoft and in the process, raising money for Addenbrookes hospital. Richard tells us his story here:

"In July 2022 my 13 year old niece was rushed to Addenbrooke’s with a growth on her brain. The treatment and care she received and the support and kindness that every member of staff gave us was truly amazing. Her Dad vowed when he stood in the recovery room watching her laugh, joke and sing with the nurses (yes, she had them all singing Mama Mia songs) after her surgery that he would do something to thank the staff for treating us all with such care and dignity and most importantly for making her better. She is now fully recovered (whilst still having regular check ups) back playing sport better than ever and we couldn’t be more proud of her. She has dealt with everything from start to finish with humour and strength beyond her years. We can honestly say that whatever, we do and raise it will not come close to the gratitude we have for the Addenbrooke’s team."
