Routes into Languages Mother Tongue Other Tongue Poetry Competition

17 January 2023

This year Norwich School pupils entered the Routes into Languages Mother Tongue Other Tongue Poetry Competition as part of their WoLLoW and MFL lessons. The aim of the competition is to celebrate the diverse languages spoken and taught in our schools. We had poems written in Thai, Mandarin, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Urdu, Arabic, French, Ukrainian, Spanish, German, Polish, Czech and Latin to name just a few. Sixteen pupils were successful in being shortlisted as finalists and their excellent poems will be published in the Routes into Languages East Mother Tongue Other Tongue Poetry Anthology 2022. The successful pupils have been invited to Cambridge University for the awards event where they will hear from poets and speakers as well as having the opportunity to recite their own poems. Congratulations to all involved!
