Pupil's 26-mile fundraising walk for Great Ormond Street Hospital

27 March 2023

On 25th March, members of Seagrim and the Lower Sixth undertook the annual ‘Seagrim walk’. This 26-mile walk starts at the West Doors of the Cathedral and finishes in Whissonsett, the birthplace of the Seagrim brothers. The walk remembers the late Seagrim brothers, Derek and Hugh and the remarkable impact they have had on our school. They are the only siblings to have been awarded, separately, the Victoria Cross and the George Cross.

Simultaneously, the walk was an opportunity to raise money for an important charity, the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). GOSH welcomes around 750 seriously ill children and young people every day from around the UK for life-changing treatments. GOSH have always depended on charitable support and as of Monday morning, we have already raised over £800. It was extremely rewarding receiving live updates of new donations as we were walking and reminded us of the purpose of the walk.

Throughout the entirety of the walk, spirits were high with a group singsong of ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)’ by The Proclaimers being a highlight. It was a fantastic achievement and every walker is proud of their contribution to this amazing cause.
