Seagrim House Prepare for the Annual Seagrim Walk

12 March 2024

On 28th March, members of Seagrim House will undertake the annual ‘Seagrim walk’. The walk remembers the late Seagrim brothers, Derek and Hugh, whilst also raising money for an incredible charity. The walk is 26 miles which starts at the West Doors of the Cathedral and finishes in Whissonsett, the birthplace of the Seagrim brothers.

Andrew Murray says,

"We walk once more, then, on the first day of the Easter Holiday, Maundy Thursday, from the Cathedral to the home village of those two amazing brothers, Derek and Hugh Seagrim. All funds raised will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. The hospital is the largest centre for research and postgraduate teaching in children's health in Europe and it offers world class care to the children in its care – it is only able do so on the basis of its charitable wing that raises £50 million a year. A dear friend of mind’s child is only alive today because of the care provided by this world-famous institution; the years that she has had with her child have been purchased for her by the extraordinary expertise of the doctors and nurses at Great Ormond Street, but also by the cutting-edge medical technology that has been made available through the charitable fundraising of countless strangers. I urge you and yours, then, in these straitened, financially challenging times to once more give support to this incredible charity"
