On 30th of November and 1st December pupils in the fourth and fifth form performed the thrilling 39 Steps in Blake Studios. Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy Spy Novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have an intriguing thrilling, riotous and unmissable Comedy.
We heard from the director Freddie Main who told us how he found the experience.
Directing The 39 Steps this term was an absolute joy. Having not led or even seen a performance at NS before setting out on this one, I truly did not know what to expect.
I was greeted with an excellent balance in attitude from the pupils between the fun and focus required in equal measure to make this comedy a success. They came up with fantastic and well thought out ideas of their own, and expressed them considerately throughout the process, whilst maintaining an openness to my guidance and improvisation-based approach to characterization.
This cast entertained and amused me week in, week out and getting to share their skill and hilarity with the school was my pleasure. - Freddie Main, Director
'It was a really fun experience; it was so comfortable to be in such a friendly and hilarious cast. If I ever got the chance to do it again, I’d do it every time!' - Daisy Massey M5 Pupil
