The Michaelmas Concert at the Kings Centre was a spectacular evening filled with excitement, fun, and vibrant energy, showcasing the immense talent of the Lower School pupils. The packed-out hall buzzed with enthusiasm as families, friends, and teachers gathered to celebrate the musical accomplishments of the school’s choirs and various ensembles.
The evening kicked off with the Guitar Ensemble, setting the tone with a cool Tango, followed by the Steel Pans group who delivered their tropical sounds with style from the back of the Hall bringing some warmth to a chilly evening. The Lower School String ensemble delivered a tradition African melody and then it was time for the Infant Choirs to take to the stage. Their sweet and innocent rendition of ‘The Gift of Autumn’ melted hearts in the Hall, followed by a fun up-tempo performance of ‘The Body Song’ which brought smiles and cheers from the audience.
Next were performances from The Recorder Crew and the newly formed Treble Recorder Ensemble providing 4 part harmony with some beautiful Traditional French Folk Songs. Lower 2 ‘Little Voices’ then took to the stage with a beautiful performance of Alan Simmons’ ‘Flower in Winter’ which was sung with pathos and well-rounded phrasing, followed by ‘Life is a Song’ bringing infectious energy and excitement!
The evening was rounded off with performances from the School Choir and Chamber Choir with standout songs ‘1000 Miles’ by Vanessa Carlton and the crowd pleasing ‘Broomstick Flew All Around’ which raised the roof! The last performance was left for the Stickers Ensemble who performed their piece on chairs rather than drums. A loud and rousing way to end a fantastic evening of music making!
