Independent Project
Independent Project
The Independent Project is a key part of the Sixth Form curriculum at Norwich School. All Lower Sixth pupils must complete an extended academic study or creative project in a topic or medium of their choice, guided by a supervisor. This project allows pupils to explore interests beyond the classroom and develop self-motivation and time-management skills valuable for higher education and employment.
Pupils are encouraged to think broadly across all areas of knowledge and creativity - humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, visual arts, or performing arts - beyond the A Level subjects. They should use their project to explore these questions: • What academic subjects or creative practices interest me most?
- How can I stretch myself academically or creatively?
- What skills do I need for advanced-level work?
- Should I aim for university, art school, conservatoire, apprenticeship, or employment after school?
- What else can I do to appeal to universities or employers?
A motivated pupil can produce a project that enhances a university interview, UCAS reference, or personal statement.
