Whilst there is little local youth provision for enthusiastic rowers, we have our own Boat Club based at Whitlingham Boathouses in Norwich as well as a dedicated ergo training room and access to 2 performance gymnasiums. We have a dedicated rowing coach, offering year-round land and water-based training, including regular Saturday morning training. In addition, rowers attend an annual training camp in Brieve, France. Rowing is available as an option for all pupils from Year 9 and above with summer taster sessions offered to Year 7 and 8. No prior experience is required to join rowing in any year group.

Throughout the academic year the school competes in regattas against schools both locally and nationally beginning with the Bedford Small Boats Head in October and finishing with the J16 GB Trials in June, closely followed by the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in July.

Notable successes in our 2023/24 sporting season include our J15 4+ securing a very close second place in the A Final, the Senior Boy’s 1st VIII holding a new school record position at 4th in the B Final and qualifying for the 2nd round at Henley Royal Regatta. In addition, 2 of our Senior rowers were selected to represent Great Britain in the J16 pairs Regatta in France.

Saturday 7 March saw the final race in the East Anglian League against runners from Gresham’s, Ipswich and RHS. The team travelled to RHS and the conditions were reasonably dry and still on a flat, fast course. Our only competing Junior, Jonas Tam, improved upon last week’s third place to come 2nd this week, while in the Intermediate Boys, Kit Rudling came 4th. In the Senior Boys we had excellent strength in depth, as we have had all season, with eight runners competing. First to finish was Ethan Buskell who came 2nd overall. Jeremy Lo came through the field strongly to take 5th place, capping off another consistent season. Leon Liu, Kort Tsui and Leo Pitt were next over the line, followed shortly by Tom Copley, Edward Lott and George Yiasimi. The Senior Boys, having showed such consistent quality and excellent camaraderie throughout the season, deservedly took home the East Anglian League Team Trophy. Well done to everyone who has represented the Cross Country team this season.

The Cross-Country team enjoyed a drizzly afternoon of racing in Ipswich on Saturday 28 February. The course was extremely muddy making for challenging, slippery conditions. But the Junior Boys managed to stay upright and perform well with Jonas Tam finishing 3rd, Jonty Croskell in 4th and Oscar Parker-Wright in 11th. All season the Senior Girls have dominated the front end of the field and again we had 3 of the top six finishers. On this occasion, it was Amelie Ivie who timed her finish best to take 3rd place ahead of Bea Green in 4th and Olivia Allen in 6th. The team was completed by Simran Chawla coming in 12th. With 8 Senior Boys running, the team prize seems sewn up this year and we had 3 of the top 5 finishers. Over the 7.6km route, Ethan Buskell was fastest on the day, coming 2nd, just ahead of Arthur Dannatt in 3rd and Leon Liu 5th. Leo Pitt was 8th, Jeremy Lo 9 th and Tom Copley, George Yiasimi and Edward Lott completed the dominating team performance all in the top 14. The final race in the series is next Saturday at RHS. Congratulations to all involved!

Despite the frost and the wet weather, there has been an incredibly successful start to Cross Country in 2026. The Norfolk County Cross Country Championships were held at Earlham Park, Sunday 4 January. The event includes races for different age groups, with U11s running 2.1km, U13 running 3.1km, U15 running 4.5km and U17s running 6km. This event was a great opportunity for athletes of all ages to compete and showcase their skills in cross country running. All pupils did exceptionally well all whilst braving the frosty weather! The following pupils took part; U11 Girls - Agatha, U3 - 1st place U11 Boys - Seb, U3 - 2nd place U13 Girls - Emi Muntingh, U4 - 1st place and now invited to take part in the London Mini Marathon in April! U15 Girls - Ruby Ivie, M5 - 6th place U17 Girls - Beatrice Green, L6 - 6th place U17 Girls - Olivia Allen, L6 - 9th place On Tuesday 20 January, ten of our runners took part in the Norfolk Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Wymondham College against the strongest runners in the county who had all qualified to compete. The course consisted of flat and fast laps around the playing fields and through the woods with plenty of mud making for challenging conditions. The target for each runner was to finish in the top 12 to qualify to represent Norfolk and six of our athletes achieved this. In the Minor Boys race, Joshua Bevan finished in 17th place, while in the Junior Girls Nona Griffiths came 24th. Our solo Intermediate Boy, Noah Buchan, was up against some very strong competition and did well to finish in the middle of the field in 45th position. Our best placed finisher on the day was Emi Muntingh who came 4th in her Junior Girls race. Ruby Ivie also qualified for a county vest by coming 5th in the Inter Girls. In the Senior Girls race we had 4 athletes all vying for a top 12 place. The girls paced it perfectly and all qualified, with Minnie Andrews coming 6th, Bea Green 8th, Izzy Last 10th and Olivia Allen 12th.
