Outcome of Norfolk Cambridge Society Essay Competition 2024
December 11, 2024
We are proud of close links with the Norfolk Cambridge Society, and the school is a host site for their very successful termly lectures.
The Society runs its own highly prestigious and rigorous annual essay competition open to any Upper Sixth pupil in the county of Norfolk considering applying to Cambridge University.
Essays were submitted in October and assessed by a panel of Cambridge Society academics.
The following pupils were awarded runners-up awards for their contributions –
- Amelia Braidwood for her amusing animated short film on ‘Mitch the Mitochondrion’
- Reuben Francis for his thought-provoking essay on the historical legal treatment of Australia’s first nation’s peoples
- Barnaby Karlson-Evans for his mature consideration of the possibility of judges being replaced by Artificial Intelligence
- Eleanor McGuire for her enlightening essay on how the film ‘Legend’ portrays the Krays and gang culture in the East End
Following shortlisting and an interview with the judging panel, joint winner of the overall competition for 2024 was awarded to:
- Grace Yeo for her remarkably impressive assessment of the role of AI in the detection and continuous monitoring of Pulmonary Artery Hypertension.
We were delighted to see the continuation of the school’s success with awards in this prestigious competition that stems back to the competition’s inception in 2020.
All five received the warm congratulations from the whole school community in Cathedral assembly this morning to celebrate their incredible achievements.
