VEX Robotics Competition Success in Colchester
January 16, 2026
On Friday 16 January, three of our VEX Robotics teams from Lower 4, Upper 4 and Lower 5 travelled to Thomas Lord Audley School in Colchester to take part in a regional robotics competition. It was an exciting and memorable day for several pupils, with this being their first experience of a competitive robotics event.
All three teams performed brilliantly throughout the day, making this our most successful competition overall to date. Following the qualification matches, we were delighted that teams finished an impressive 2nd, 3rd and 4th overall out of 16 teams. Whilst no trophies were awarded in this instance, the standard of performance was exceptional. A special mention goes to the Lower 5 team of Oscar Zhang, Jj Li and Jayden Hondonga, who finished joint first in the Driver Skills section of the competition, despite having to rebuild their robot during the event. The teams were accompanied by Mrs Brown and Mr Moore, who were incredibly proud of how all the pupils represented the school.
Congratulations to all who took part!
