Norwich School Pupils Share Their Passion for Dance as Part of Their Community Service

Lauren Carter and Ottilie Johnson had the opportunity to share their passion for dance with other young people, as part of the school's Community Service programme. Lauren tells us a little more about it...

"Thanks to Norwich Schools community service program Ottilie Johnson and I had the opportunity to teach children with special educational needs to dance.

Throughout the term we worked on a short routine which they performed to their school. They have also enjoyed playing lots of choreography based games which have stretched and developed their creativity.

We really focused on making it a fun and rewarding experience for the kids and I think it’s safe to say Ottilie and I learnt a lot too.

A lot of the children struggle with communicating and it’s been a really lovely experience to be able to teach them to communicate through movement, when words aren’t enough. They’ve all improved significantly and are so much more confident as a result of dance.

Thank you to Ms How and the staff at Harford manner school for giving us the opportunity to help others with dance."
