Ski Success - ERSA School Ski Race
April 27, 2025
On Sunday 4 May, Norwich School had 3 teams in the Senior school ski race and 2 in the Junior School race held at Ipswich slope. This is a grass roots entry level race, so it was great to see some debutantes to the ski team.
The Lower School boys team had just 2 skiers, with Ianis Pop recovering from the biggest crash of the day in run 1 to finish 4th in his category, and Dylan Sweales also recovering from skiing out in his first run to finish 4th in his category, the fastest Year 2 boy by an impressive 7 seconds! The Lower School girls team had some new members and all of Emily Slinger, Kasia Borrow and Vera Hilton Mitzman skied very well to complete all their runs.
Our Senior School mixed team of India Coupland, Lucy Ellis, Hattie Beverley and Fred Hilton Mitzman skied cleanly and secured 3rd place in their mixed age group category.
The girls team of Antonia Watson, Mirabelle Harden and Sophie Slinger won the girls race by a 10 second margin. Antonia defended her individual title as fastest overall female. Mirabelle placed 3rd in her category and Sophie 7th showing the great improvements she has made recently.
The boys team had a much closer race, but won by 2 seconds over their combined 6 best runs. Charlie Barker placed 6th and Rufus Snelling 2nd in their categories with Henry Drew providing a reliable back up in the place of several injured skiers. The highlight of the race was George Snelling being the last racer down the course overturning a 0.01 second deficit into a win as fastest male by just 0.03 seconds. Norwich School also won the fastest overall school title.
Well done to all who took part!
