PUPILS LEARN ABOUT THE RNLI IN SUMMER SAFETY WEEK
June 20, 2024
From 17 to the 24 of June, pupils across the Senior School engaged in our Summer Safety week.
Pupils looked at a number of aspects of summer safety through a range of activities throughout the week.
During morning tutorial all pupils looked at Sun and Beach safety, and on Friday tutorial they had year group-specific topics. Fourth form explored rail safety with resources from national-rail, Fifth from looked at online safety and screen time and the Sixth form looked at festival safety. The Lower 6 also took part in a futures session about safety on a night out. This gave the pupils the opportunity to engage in a number of important conversations.
We were also excited to welcome Arna from the RNLI come in to speak with pupils about Water safety and career opportunities within the RNLI. Arna ran a stall over lunch time engaging with pupils and staff informally from across the School. She asked pupils to spot common beach safety dangers and provided practical advice on how to handle emergency situations in the water. She also spoke through career opportunities in the RNLI including Lifeguard training, sharing her personal career journey with the RNLI.
Summer Safety week is just one aspect of our Pupil Personal Development provisions. As a School, we hope to equip our students with practical skills to navigate the wider world.
