Norwich School Supports Online Mental Health Community, Kooth

At Norwich School, we are promoting the online mental health community for young people, Kooth.

Kooth.com is an anonymous support service which helps children and young people to feel safe and confident in exploring their concerns and seeking professional support. It is an online application removing the need for Apple/Android accounts, data requirements and the stigma of mental health apps on your devices. The platform has been designed over the past 15 years with children and young people. They have researched and understand how the youth of today want to access services, what they want to know and how they want to engage.

Kooth is unique in that it works with children and young people who may need advice and signposting, help, more ongoing help or immediate risk support. The clinical model is NICE informed and there are ongoing pathways mapped across the UK.

Their suite of applications allows children and young people to choose how they want to access help: Magazines, Forums, Activity Centres, Messaging, Live Counselling. Each component can be accessed as a stand alone or as part of a wider care package. One of the best parts of Kooth is that access is immediate; there is no need for a referral, no waiting lists and the service is available 24/7.

They also have a robust risk profiling system across all parts of the platform that allows them to prioritise and to reach out. Safeguarding encompasses all that they do at every level of care. They know when to signpost and refer on and how to psychologically hold people and keep them safe during crisis.

Should you have any further questions regarding Kooth please contact our Head of Welfare, Georgie Valpied, or have a look at their presence on social media.
