Mind the GAP: Meet Kitty Taylor

Next in the Mind the Gap Blog series, Kitty Taylor (13-21) speaks to us about her experience as the Lower School GAP student last year and what she is going on to do next.

ON Kitty Taylor (13-21) was the Lower School GAP student last year, which involved helping out with lots of sports, clubs, supervisions and trips, as well as day to day jobs such as creating displays and photocopying.

Having finished her three A-Levels in Biology, English Literature and Geography, Kitty decided she wanted to take a year off before university and do something worthwhile with the time. The Lower School GAP placement was the perfect option, as she has always loved working with kids. Kitty joined the Lower school as a pupil herself in Form 3 (8 years ago!) and loved every minute of it, so was thrilled at the prospect of going back.

Kitty said her favourite thing about working at the Lower School was that every day was completely different, and she enjoyed getting involved with all aspects of school life. She says the Lower School Common Room was a very welcoming place and she felt hugely supported throughout her year in post. Having finished her placement at the end of the Trinity Term, Kitty now looks forward to moving to Edinburgh for university where she will study Physical Geography.

Kitty’s favourite memory from her time as a pupil was playing at Lee Valley for the National Hockey Finals which she says was “pretty special.” We asked Kitty what advice she would give to her younger self, and she said, “live life by the abc’s… adventure, bravery and creativity.”

We wish Kitty all the best as she moves away for university in the next couple of weeks.
