Ivy Fisher on her Love for Horse Riding

Upper Sixth Pupil, Ivy Fisher competes in the sport of Eventing which involves dressage, show jumping and cross country. This summer she competed in several International Events including Belsay International and Cornbury House British Junior Championships where she was placed an amazing sixth, with a double clear in showjumping and cross country.

We caught up with her to find out how she got into riding:

How did you get into horse riding?

When I was younger, I started off doing ballet, however I wasn’t very good and my mum gave me the choice to either do ballet or go to riding school, so I quit ballet and as soon as I started riding immediately, I fell in love with it. From then on Horse Riding consumed my life, and I would Horse ride anytime I could. My mum took me to my local pony club every Saturday from the age of five and then I got my first pony at eight.

I learnt the basics when I was younger and slowly trained up to competition level. Whilst I was still training at the age of ten, I would compete for fun at friendly show jumping competitions, this progressed into actual eventing competitions at the age of thirteen which included, Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country.

Will you continue riding after school?

I would Love to do the sport professionally. After my A levels I plan to go into a working pupil position in a professional Event yard.
