Have Your Say on Recycling!

For her Independent Project this year, Freya Blues is exploring ideas about recycling in the UK, its problems, and potential solutions but she needs your help. Can you spare just five minutes to complete Freya's survey? Find out more here...

"For my Independent Project, I will be exploring ideas about recycling in the UK, its problems, and potential solutions.

The UK’s recycling system is something we all use daily and is an important part of the government's commitment to improving environmental standards. I will be explaining what recycling is, how it works, and its importance to government net-zero targets. Finally, I will investigate just how broken this system is.

I will explore what can be recycled compared to what we do recycle, the regional differences in waste collection, and what happens to our waste after collections, including the awarding of waste contracts and issues related to exporting UK waste.

I will compare all this information with research on international recycling systems and then show the differences between them. In the final part of my project, I will explore the future of recycling in the UK, suggest some improvements to the system, and how this may impact us.

This is a very relevant and important topic which impacts and involves everyone. As part of my Independent Project, I am conducting a research segment and I have created a survey to be completed by members of the school and parents/guardians of pupils. With the results from the survey, I will have further information on the general knowledge and awareness of people when it comes to recycling. This will really help boost my research and overall knowledge when it comes to the topic."
