Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Practice Expedition

Last weekend, 80 pupils and 15 members of staff headed to North Norfolk for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition. After a bag check and briefing, the 14 groups received training at the Lower Close about using a Trangia, lost at sea practice, route card checking and navigation. The groups then boarded the bus and headed North for their overnight camping at Breck Farm, located just ten minutes away from the picturesque North Norfolk village of Holt. Having put up the tents, the groups set about making their ‘gourmet’ suppers using the Trangia, with most groups selecting pasta for the menu. Some groups even bought cheese for the top! The next day the groups woke up early and packed up their tents after breakfast. The groups walked from the camp to the Edgefield Village Hall, a total of 15km with 5 breaks in between, where they were to be collected and taken back to School for pickup. The pupils all seem to have had an enjoyable, but rather tiring, time!
