Exclusive Film Workshop for Lower 6 2D Design
January 24, 2026
Joyce Ho (L6) from the Close Creatives Collective reflected on the film workshop that was offered to 2D Design pupils.
On Saturday 24 January, Lower 6 2D Design pupils took part in a film workshop led by Cameron Black, focused on developing photography and film editing skills to support our current album redesign project. As part of this project, we created short film clips using our own footage taken during the holidays, which functioned like a music video to visually represent the album and its songs.
In the first section of the workshop, Cameron introduced us to basic camera knowledge, including settings such as ISO, exposure and framing. We also looked at a range of short films and music videos, discussing different visual styles, narrative approaches and key elements that can be used to communicate mood and atmosphere.
The second section of the workshop focused on editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro, again taught by Cameron Black. We learnt how to cut and rearrange clips, adjust colour, apply gradual zooms, and add sound effects. Cameron also explained key technical editing terms and demonstrated how these techniques could enhance the overall impact of our films.
Overall, the workshop was very informative and practical, helped us gain a clearer understanding of how film and editing can be used creatively within our album project.
