Catching Up With The Charity Crafters
May 28, 2024
Charity Crafters, an exciting new Community Service option from this year, have made a huge impact on the community!
Crafters are invited to use their Community Service hours to knit, crotchet or sew whatever takes their fancy from a wide variety of needed items for local charities and facilities: from hats for the N&N NICU ward to children’s clothing for refugee families, lap blankets for care homes to syringe driver bags for the N&N’s palliative Care Team. All levels of knitters and stitchers are welcome, from beginner to pro, as projects range in ability and time required.
The group also visits local care homes to join in intergenerational ‘Knit and Natter’ sessions. These included a visit to St John’s Care Home as part of Dementia UK and Knitters and Stitchers Club initiative.
You'll see the crafters last big hurrah as part of the Charities Committee Fashion Show which saw the Knitters and Stitchers Club join forces with the CS group to finish their line of crochet items!
"Charity Crafters has been a real highlight of my year and I'm sure Gill Parsons will say the same. Having our weekly knit and natter with our lovely little group, while still getting things made for the dementia friendship bracelet sale, N&N NICU, care homes and the Fashion Show has been just lovely and I really hope we can run it again next year"
