Bandfest Lite!
February 25, 2025
As a warm-up to their main event - Bandfest on Tuesday 24 June, Norwich School rock bands entertained pupils and staff during their lunch break on 25 February.
Orion took to the stage first with an eclectic setlist : For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica - a powerful opening from Zach Baker on guitar and Oscar Cook on drums effectively captured the intensity of the song and Ezra Collis perfectly complimented this with the beautiful yet intense melodic bass intro.
This was followed by Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits, a timeless classic expertly performed by Charlie Clover.
A complete change of mood from Rhapsode, with a skilful and atmospheric performance of Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap (beautiful vocals from Maleeya Watts) and a gorgeous rendition of the acoustic hit Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae, played skilfully on acoustic guitar by Sahib Wahilwala.
Last to perform was the new L6 band, Bad News, and we were treated to two more songs from Summer Nesbitt - Buddy Holly by Weezer and the bass-driven Hysteria by Muse, the latter featuring an intense bass guitar intro from Jacob Cracknell.
The event ended with compelling vocals from Ben Griffiths on two classic tracks, Plug In Baby by Muse and When the Sun Goes Down by Arctic Monkeys, the latter also featuring energetic and rhythmic performances from Tommy Cahir on guitar and Oscar Cooke on drums.
This was a great opportunity for these wonderful musicians to perform live and we hope to repeat the event next year.
