Congratulations to Lower 6 Art scholar, Beatrix (Trixie) Ellerby, who entered a competition with First Buses Eastern Counties over the summer and has recently been awarded a prize. She tells us about it in her own words: "While travelling home on the bus in the summer holidays I noticed a poster with details of a drawing competition organised by First Buses Eastern Counties. The theme was sunflowers which appealed to me as I really enjoy doing drawings inspired by nature, in particular flowers. I photographed a sunflower and based my drawing on this, using colour pencils. As the sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine, I decided on blue as the background to represent the Ukrainian flag, as a way of showing my support for Ukraine in the war. I was delighted to hear that I'd won this competition and to be invited to an award ceremony. I received several prizes including a variety of art supplies and one prize which I particularly like is a hanging bee nester as I'm keen to encourage more bees into my garden." Well done Trixie!
