Andrew Weeks
Andrew is an award-winning British composer for film, television, theatre, and the concert hall. Since 2011 he has held key roles at Norwich School including Head of Instrumental Music & Composition, Acting Head of Academic Music, and Tutor-to-Choristers. With over 15 years in the music industry, he is also an experienced educator, conductor, and multi-instrumentalist. His career spans choirs, orchestras, jazz bands, and musical theatre, as well as touring the UK folk circuit with Inlay, the English folk ensemble he co-founded at the University of East Anglia. With the group he has recorded three albums and performed at leading UK folk festivals. His orchestral and choral works have been performed to packed audiences, and his media credits include broadcasts for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5. Andy writes for a wide range of ensembles and is establishing himself as an emerging film composer. His music is available on all major streaming platforms.
An accomplished orchestrator and conductor, Andy has collaborated with professional and amateur ensembles including the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Norwich Baroque, Triorca International Youth Orchestra, Norwich School Senior Orchestra, and session orchestras in London. Dedicated to education, he has 13 years’ experience teaching up to A-Level, alongside outreach projects with primary schools and with Alzheimer’s patients in collaboration with Norwich Cathedral, the Royal College of Music, Key Turtle Arts, and English Touring Opera. He is also an experienced MD and pit musician, having worked on over 20 musical theatre productions including Bugsy Malone, Chicago, Footloose (MD), Grease (with Oscars XI, MD, Edinburgh Festival), Fame (MD), Guys & Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Legally Blonde (MD), Les Misérables, Little Shop of Horrors (with Oscars XI, MD, Edinburgh Festival), Sweeney Todd, Sweet Charity, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story, and We Will Rock You. He has also performed as a percussionist with local orchestras including The Academy of St. Thomas, UEA Symphony Orchestra, and Norwich Sinfonietta, where he is currently Composer-in-Residence.
A trained singer and choral conductor, Andy has worked with youth, amateur, and professional choirs across the UK and Europe. He has studied with leading vocal coaches and sung with Taplow Youth Choir (BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year), The Cantus Ensemble, The Morley Consort of Voices, UEA Chamber Choir, and Norwich Cathedral Choir. He was deputy choral director for the Norwich School Chapel Choir and Choral Society for many years, and has performed in prestigious venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Snape Maltings, the Royal Albert Hall, and numerous cathedrals. As Artistic Director of the Morley Consort of Voices (2012–2015), he led performances at Hampton Court Palace and a semi-staged Dido & Aeneas with Norwich Baroque.
His work has been featured on albums with Warner Chappell Production Music, JW Media, and other production music libraries. Andy holds a BA in Music, a PGCE, and an MA in Composition & Orchestration for Film, TV & Games. Since 2023, he has been Director of the Triorca International Youth Orchestra.
