A Special Christmas Jumper Day for St Martins Housing Trust
December 13, 2024
On the last day of term the school held a very special Christmas Jumper Day in aid of St Martins Housing Trust, a Norwich-based charity which has been supporting homeless people for over 50 years.
The charity has many individuals who will be living in their accommodation over Christmas, a time which can be challenging for those who have been made homeless and/or have been sleeping rough. To help, pupils wore their Christmas jumpers for the day and donated gift items as payment for doing so, including chocolate, toiletries, games, socks and gloves along with household supplies and groceries. These items will all be made into hampers by St Martins and given to each resident as a Christmas present.
The school community came out in force and pupils from the Charities Committee collected a whole van’s worth of donations to go to St Martins.
Kat Alabaster, Community Services Manager for St Martins said, "Christmas can be a difficult time of year for the people we support. Some people have very little and donations such as these from the Norwich School make a huge difference. It was fantastic to come and meet some of the students and to fill our van with basics and treats to be distributed to the people we support in time for Christmas."
The school is continuing to work with St Martins, with members of the Charities Committee having recently joined the Youth Advisory Board. Partnerships Officer Mrs Thomas also sits on the charity’s Stakeholder Advisory Board.
We wish everyone at St Martin’s a very Merry Christmas!
