Nicola Hill

Mrs Hill is the longest standing Maths Teacher at Norwich School, being in her 22nd year at the school. Prior to joining as Head of Maths at Norwich School in 2003, she worked in three large Norfolk State Secondary Schools (including Thorpe St Andrew High School, also as Head of Maths). She has always enjoyed working with pupils from many different schools: early in her teaching career she helped run annual Maths Summer Schools for local Year 6 pupils and was instrumental in the launch of the Norfolk Royal Institution Maths Masterclasses, which are still taking place at Norwich School many years later. Mrs Hill has held many different positions during her time at Norwich School (Senior Mistress overseeing the arrival of girls from age 7 upwards, Assistant Head in charge of Fourth Form, Principal Deputy Head and most recently Director of Partnerships) whilst continuing to be first and foremost a teacher of Mathematics – she says she is happiest in the classroom!

Highlights of her early career include being instrumental in hosting a large scale Maths event for hundreds of Norfolk pupils at the Norwich City Football stadium featuring Johnny Ball and being invited to deliver a lecture on the History of Mathematics at the Royal Institution in London.
