There is no doubt that Jazz Night is one of the finest nights in the school’s musical calendar and this year was no exception.
On 15 March 2024, musicians from all non-classical traditions headed to the spacious and darkly atmospheric Epic Studios with the aim of entertaining their peers and over 200 parents, staff members and friends of the school.
And what a performance they gave!
Over a delicious two course meal, the stunningly decorated venue resounded with a mix of music covering an eclectic variety of genres: from the dulcet tones of G-Force with Mrs Walton on keyboard to the mellifluous a cappella harmonies of Close Shaves under the energetic baton of Mr Collerton; from the sublime individual talents of the solo acts to the razzmatazz of the Senior Jazz Band lead by their talismanic director, Mr Week. Jazz Night 2024 was nearly five hours of toe-tapping, mind-blowing sounds that highlighted the prodigious wealth of musical talent throughout the school community. The end of the evening dance set provided the ideal opportunity to see embarrassing Dad-dancing at its very finest.
Funds of over £2,000 were raised by the hard-working red gowns on the night, going to local charity Musical Keys.
Huge thanks as ever go to the teams both back and front of house for pulling off another memorable and quite literally Epic evening.
