On October 3, Sixty-five members of U3 embarked on their annual Geography Field Trip to the Peak District to ‘read the landscape’. Pupils visited the National Stone Centre for a round robin of activities, walked the beautiful Dovedale Valley, explored the Treakcliff Cavern cave system and made our ascent to the top of Mam Tor to enjoy the magnificent views of The Hope Valley. Notebook and pencil in hand, pupils began to understand the formation of numerous Dovedale Valley features such as the Dovehole Caves and Reynard’s Arch as well as recording river data to be used back in the classroom.

Gems and fossils bought at gift shops and time to relax and enjoy the majestic surroundings of Ilam Hall youth hostel made for another enjoyable and informative visit.
