Gold and silver awards for the Lower School at the Royal Norfolk Show!

07 July 2023

The Lower School entered two flower-filled wheelbarrows into the School Gardens competition at the recent Royal Norfolk Show and achieved award for both!

The Highgrove Sundial Garden, designed, created and grown by pupils from Lower 2 to Lower 3 received a gold award form the judges whilst the wildflower garden created by Reception, Lower 1 and Upper 1 took home a silver-gilt award.

LS pupils worked for many months to design, plant, grow and nurture the wheelbarrows. The wildflower meadow was created with the aim of encouraging and supporting pollinators within our gardens. Pupils also re-purposed household materials such as tins, to create mini bug hotels within the wildflower meadow.

The second barrow was created by the Gardening Club and is modeled on King Charles' sundial garden at Highgrove. As the theme of the show this year was 'the future' pupils chose this as King Charles has been instrumental in championing the environment and wildlife for many years. Pupils even created a life-size King Charles from willow grown in the school garden!

Congratulations to all the pupils and staff for their hard work in creating these award-winning displays.
