A Chorus of Little Voices at The Norfolk County Music Festival

13 March 2024

Norwich Lower School were delighted once again to be part of the Norfolk County Music Festival. Three choirs from the Lower School performed at The Kings Centre in Norwich.

Infant Choir, Little Voices and the main School Choir, showcasing some delightful and memorable performances that encompassed a wide range of musical styles and emotions.

Infant Choir were first to sing and took to the stage to perform One Little Voice featuring excellent solo and duet singing from 6 members of Upper One.  Then they gave a rousing and exciting performance of Food Glorious Food complete with exciting actions, fabulous expression, lots of character and entertainment resulting in a wonderful and enjoyable performance.

Next to perform were the Little Voices choir. Their first piece was Dreamer which was sung with a gentle tone quality capturing the essence of the music and lyrics perfectly.  They then turned themselves into a Jazz group as singers transformed into Double Basses, Saxophones and High Trumpets for Scoo Bee Doo, full of fun and enjoyment.

The final choir was the main School Choir. They began with the classic True Colours by Cindi Lauper showcasing excellent balance in tone and wonderful diction. It was sung with great passion and sensitivity together with uplifting and emotional moments. This was followed by another hit song from Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill, which was specially arranged for the choir. They created a fantastic robust sound with stunning dynamic contrasts and at times exquisite 3 part polyphonic voicings.

All 3 choirs excelled and should be very proud of their hard work.

Head of Music, Mr Vine, said ‘the choirs have worked so hard and have really focussed on their dynamic ranges and also quality of sound, which really paid off.  Their communication and performances were first class.  Well done to all our fabulous, outstanding singers!’
