Cheryl Wood

Mrs Cheryl Wood is Assistant Head of English and School Archivist. As a South African student, she studied at the University of Natal and the University of South Africa. She was fortunate enough to be part of the Unilever graduate recruitment programme and joined Research International, a Unilever company, as a Research Assistant. Some years later she left the world of research as a Research Director and embarked on the journey of retraining as an English teacher, something she had longed to do for a few years.

She completed her PGCE equivalent, and having so enjoyed her post-graduate studies continued on to complete a post-graduate diploma in Library Science, specifically in school librarianship, enabling her to become a Chartered Librarian. For many years now she has had the privilege of fulfilling her dream to teach English, loving every moment of it. However, in late 1999 when she and her family took the decision to move to Scotland (thanks to her English and Scottish heritage) it was into a post as a school librarian. Her move to Norwich School in 2007 enabled her to take on the role as Head Librarian and to take up an English teaching role too. She has spent a number of years as Head of 4th Form, tracking the transition of our junior pupils and sending them on into the world of 5th Form. Having stepped down from this role, she has been blessed once again to teach English full-time. She is honoured not only to teach in a school which offers outstanding pastoral care, but also in an English department filled with talented colleagues whose enthusiasm and innovative teaching is such a source of inspiration.
