AUDIENCES ON THEIR FEET FOR DAZZLING PERFORMANCE OF 'ALL MY SONS'
March 22, 2023
This half term our community was treated to a magnificent performance of All My Sons, which saw audiences on their feet in appreciated. Produced by Freya Osbourne (U5), she tells us a little more about the production...
"On Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 March, I had the pleasure of taking part in this year’s Senior Play – All My Sons by Arthur Miller - a change in genre from the last Senior production, Footloose. Being part of an amazingly talented cast of 10 students (ranging from L5-U6), and having the support of our director, Miss Cubbin, made this experience one that has been extremely rewarding and encouraging.
All My Sons takes place just after the events of World War Two and is set in a 24-hour period. It explores the deep-rooted emotions of loss, guilt, and love that surround a war such as that throughout the play. The play is a moving drama that ventures into the ethics of profiteering and the intricate dynamics of the Keller family, a seemingly normal 1940s household, albeit one with many uncovered secrets and regret. Joe and Kate Keller’s loss of their son, Larry, is not the only part of the family that they struggle to keep in the past. No action that anyone can take is going to alter the fact that twenty-one pilots dropped out of the sky in the midst of WWII. However, a fresh change to the Keller household, sees many buried lies uncovered…
I thoroughly enjoyed producing this dramatic production with a gifted cast consisting of:
Jack Parfitt (U6) – Joe Keller
Gracie Brand (U6) – Kate Keller
Dylan Parsons (L6) – Chris Keller
Cleo Gregory (U5) – Ann Deever
Hal Major (L6) – George Deever
Finney Harrod (L6) – Jim Bayliss
Freya Osborne (U5) – Sue Bayliss
Hugo Dimoglou (L6) – Frank Lubey
Liv Massey (L6) – Lydia Lubey
Louis Baker (L5) – Bert
Having started rehearsals in January, amongst mock exams and the numerous other co-curricular activities we are involved in, we have had a busy but fun 10 weeks preparing this production. I would like to give my thanks to Miss Cubbin for directing us, Mr Bromley for helping with the set (and our accents!) and Tilly Hill for creating the program, and taking such lovely rehearsal pictures for us."
