U6 Seagrim take on sponsored walk

11 February 2022

U6 Seagrim and several staff will be taking on a sponsored walk from The Cathedral Close to Whissonett on 27 March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The walk will be approximately 26 miles long, with the group departing from the West Doors of the Cathedral at 7am.

The village of Whissonsett was home to the extraordinary Seagrim brothers, Derek and Hugh, whose stories remain an inspiration to so many within the School community. Derek and Hugh Seagrim are the only siblings to have been awarded the Victoria Cross and George Cross and it is from them that Seagrim House gets its name.

Mr Murray, who is organising the walk, comments:

"Every day Great Ormond Street Hospital sees 619 children and young people from across the UK pass through its doors to receive life-changing treatments. It just seemed appropriate to walk, with members of Seagrim house, to the home village of two of the bravest Norvicensians ever to be educated in The Close (Derek and Hugh Seagrim) to raise money for some of the bravest people in our culture – the children and the families who owe so much to a brilliant institution."

All proceeds from the event will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital. You can donate via their JustGiving page here.
