U15 Boys Cricket reach the Quarter Finals of the National Cup

04 May 2017

Norwich School’s U15 boys have progressed to the last 16 of the Lord's Taverners Cup after a hard fought win over Bromsgrove School. After losing the toss the team took to the field and gained immediate success when Harry Wiliams (2 for 38) bowled the opener, only for Bromsgrove to take the initiative plundering 50 from the first 7 overs. The introduction of spin from George Harrad (2 for 24) and James Hardy (1 for 26) stemmed the flow and the boys fought back to bowl out Bromsgrove for 175 in 37 overs. Joe Beadman also bowled his left arm spin with great control, finishing with figures of 2 for 25.

The Norwich School innings got off to a flyer only to be pegged back by some tight bowling. Losing wickets at regular intervals meant the game was in the balance throughout and the team were indebted to Zach Taylor (44) and Will Woodhead (13) for steadying the innings. We continued to lose wickets although Will Hollis (12) put on 30 with Taylor. With the game evenly poised Dan Hastings (16 off 13) and Man of the Match James Hardy (16 off 13) brought the game to a dramatic end with a 40 run partnership off just 3.5 overs.
