Next Wednesday, 31st May, 4 gallant members of staff (Messrs Hooper, Sims, Peters & Manton) begin their four-day cycle ride to Rouen - variously dubbed as The Road to Rouen or the R2R - to raise money for two charities: English Plus, here in Norwich, and the Nandana Werapitiya Village Foundation in Sri Lanka.
They will be accompanied, as far as Newhaven, by a young man from El Salvador and will be joined on the south coast by our Mandarin teacher colleague Nicki Lin.
There will be an official send-off from the (former) Sheriff of Norwich, Caroline Jarrold, and members of the Twinning Committee. In Rouen, there will be a civic reception at the Town Hall on Saturday, 3rd June.
A £20 donation would provide 2 hours of tuition in English as a second language, a class load of stationery for a Sri Lankan primary school, or the servicing of a donated bicycle that will be distributed to refugees in Norwich.
