It has been an incredibly successful term for girls’ hockey. Throughout the season, all players have all worked tirelessly to improve their skills both individually and as a team.
Below are some highlights from the season;
Junior: The U12D Hockey players have shown great improvement in all areas of the game and the teams’ confidence as with their successes has been getting stronger. The U12C Team have achieved two wins against both Town Close and Ipswich School. To end the season, U12B finished on a high with a 3-0 victory over Wisbech Grammar School. Additionally, U12A were triumphant in winning the Norfolk County Tournament. A key highlight of the season was the success of U13As was coming 2nd in the County Championships and therefore going through to Regional Finals.
Inters: The girls' hockey club was able to field three sides at inters this term, with over 55 pupils opting to represent the school. The U14Bs have had an amazing season and are the most successful team in the club, with a 75% winning ratio. The U15 girls' hockey team keeps marching on in the Independent School Hockey Cup and will progress to Round 4 in the Lent Term.
Senior: The senior section of the Hockey Club has represented the school with distinction this year. 34 girls went away for a pre-season in Nottingham which enabled good foundations for the long and challenging campaigns. In addition to this, 2 senior girls' sides went across to Holland during the October half-term for their senior sports hockey tour. Both teams played remarkably well against the world's strongest hockey nation and came back with invaluable experiences and some brilliant results. We are very proud to say that six girls have passed the 20-cap mark, and four have now surpassed 40 1st XI appearances, which is an excellent indicator of consistency of performance and togetherness in the squad. The 2nd XI Captain. Esther Payne captained the squad with distinction this term and has shown true leadership and service to the club. A fantastic role model which every player should aspire to be.
