On Thursday 15 June two pupils from Norwich School, Rosie Pank (15) and Ellie Thwaites (14), will set sail in a Norfolk Punt from Beccles Sailing Club on the Waveney. Helmed by Mr Mark Elson, the school's senior sailing instructor, they will endeavour to reach Barton Broad - the home of the Norfolk Punt Club. All of this to be achieved within daylight hours. This is a distance nearing 50 miles and therefore, will require the consummate skills of all three talented sailors.

The team will be supported by Ms Emily Greves and Mr Lester Wellerd in a RIB, and Mr Humphrey Bedford-Payne in a school minibus.

This feat was originally accomplished in 2019 by Mr Elson and two pupils, Toby Hunt and Sam Dernie.

The reason for undertaking this grueling trip is to raise funds for the wonderful work that is carried out by the Nancy Oldfield Trust at Neatishead. The Trust provides a wide range of water-based activities for people with disabilities, catering for their individual needs to ensure a truly enriching experience.
