The county cup final with Hethersett was a tense affair.

Lucas Berney got us off to the perfect start with a 6-1 win, however, losses for Rufus Snelling and Teddy Curtis meant we needed Charlie Sexton to pull out all the stops to win his singles match, which he duly did 6-3. So, the match was all square going into the doubles.

Lucas was partnered by Himash Amarawickrama and they put us in the lead once again with a 6-1 win. Teddy and Rufus had their work cut out for them against Hethersett first pair and although they had a match point they ultimately lost a tense encounter 5-7. With the match all square there was a shootout tiebreak to decide the outcome. Rufus was partnered by Charlie and they immediately stamped their mark going out to a big lead, in fact at one stage they had 6 match points only to see them disappear one by one until the very last one.

Ultimately, a 10-8 victory meant the team are the Norfolk champions and will go on to represent the county in the National stages of the competition when we return to school in September!

Well done to Rufus Snelling (Captain), Teddy Curtis, Charlie Sexton, Lucas Berney and Himash Amarawickrama, as well as Miles Alston and Barney Fay who also represented the team.
