Rowing Report Overview

14 June 2023

With the lively term underway, the summer heat certainly isn't slowing down our students. From Trinity Term's jumpstarting victory of two crews qualifying for the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta to the monumental achievements in the Star Regatta, the accomplishments of Norwich School Rowing are expansive.

Two crews represented the Eastern Regions in the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta, where they raced outstandingly against the 12 other regions from the UK in the regional finals. It was a delight to see a girls L5 quad racing for 2nd place in the B final. This was only the start of our triumph, the U5 boys coxed four produced a fabulous result to win silver in the A final.

National Schools Regatta, held annually on the 2012 Olympic Rowing Lake saw over 150 Schools and over 5000 junior rowers compete.

The rowers produced excellent results for the school:

L5 Boys 2nd raced to 2nd in the C Final

L5 Girls 2nd raced to 2nd in the C Final

M5 Boys 5th from 21 boats in B Final

U5 Girls 3rd from 19 boats in B Final

U5 Boys 4th from 26 boats in A Final

Champ Girls 2x (U6), 9th from 34 boats - 1st in B Final

Champ Boys 4- (U6/L6) 2nd from 9 boats in A Final (SILVER MEDAL)

Star Regatta saw some impressive performances from the Inters with M5 boys dominating the podium with most wins in almost all their boat classes! The celebrations did not end there, with the L5 girls winning the Girls' Octopule event over St. Edwards School and, Sydenham School for Girls.  Key highlights were the impressive sculling by Isaac Latter-Casas and Mateo Vedrenne securing victory in the L5 double sculls event. Additionally, the double victory for Ted Bowyer and Oliver Howard in both pair and double scull for U5 was unforgettable.
