Rowing Report From The Start of The Lent Term

14 February 2024

The start of the new year and first half of the Lent Term has seen some excellent performances from the rowing team.

The J15 to J18 rowers raced at Hampton Head against some of the biggest rowing schools in the country. Conditions were tricky with strong tailwind and stream, making the 3km course go by very quickly. We saw stand out results from our J15 boys coxed quad (4X+), who came second narrowly missing out on victory by 0.6s to Westminster School. Our Senior Boys Coxless 4 (4-) came 3rd in a very competitive field.

The day after saw a return to the GB training centre for the Daniel White and Daniel Conway with another day of training and racing in preparation for Daniel Conway attending the February GB U19 Trials.

Unfortunately, Bedford Head was cancelled due to flooding and so our J14s still await their first race.

This half term has seen the 4th and 6th Form House Rowing Competition take place., with the 5th Form still to compete there have been some very close finishes. The 6th Form raced a relay of 3k with a minimum team of 6, but many pupils took the opportunity to jump on the ergos and row their hardest for 100m+ to be part of the event. The Form form Individual races had some close finishes. The competitiveness has been evident, the support has been (VERY) loud and lots of fun been had. Final placings will be announced once all year groups have raced.

Thank you to L6 Pupil and Close Up Photography Club Member, Cleo Gregory, for her photography.
