Pupils share their experience of WoLLoW at the Dean's Breakfast

23 June 2022

On Wednesday 22 June, some of our pupils were joined by pupils from Avenue Junior School to present their experience of the new World of Languages and Languages of the World curriculum to business leaders at The Dean’s Breakfast networking event.

World of Languages and Languages of the World (WoLLoW) is an exciting new curriculum aimed at putting joy and fun at the heart of languages teaching for children in KS2 and KS3.

The Head of Norwich School, Mr Griffiths, began the presentation by explaining the core aims of WoLLoW:

  • Language readiness – encouraging children to get curious and excited about languages.
  • Literacy and structure – helping children to understand how languages work.
  • Celebrate diversity – classrooms are already multi-lingual – celebrate that!
  • Make connections between areas of the curriculum e.g. language and science/language and geography, etc.

Supported by Head of WoLLoW, Ms Dean, and Avenue Junior Teacher Ms Agnew, the pupils then talked about what they had learnt in their WoLLoW lessons.

Ms Agnew commented: "It’s equipped us to inspire our pupils to love languages."

Well done to Norwich School pupils Ankita (L4), Maysam (L4), Siya (L3) and Lucy (L3) and Avenue Junior pupils Stan, Harry and Joe. Thank you also to the visiting Avenue Junior teachers Ms Agnew and Ms Maas.
