In celebration of National Poetry Day, on Monday October 2, the Senior School hosted the Poetry Slam in the Undercroft Library. Pupils explored themes varying from love, politics and even the Duke of Edinburgh Award, all whilst in a safe space. It was a wonderful event in which pupils from all year groups could share their own works and performances and feel supported by their peers who shared their love of poetry.
The pupils read a range of poetry forms: limerick, rap, AI generated poems, a reading from Macbeth and their own work, old and new, serious and funny, personal and political.
The Head of English was joined by poet, Penny Boxall, to give encouraging feedback to all pupils, commenting on their not only their written work, but the elements of their performance. As well as this enriching feedback, pupils were also rewarded with a chocolate prize of their choosing.
