The Royal Society of Chemistry Young Analyst competition is a prestigious national event for chemists in their first year of A-level study. Thursday 20th April saw the 2017 East Anglia regional heat at UEA. In 2016 the Norwich school team had emerged victorious, so there was considerable pressure on this year's competitors, Annabelle Eccleshall (L6V), Matthew Hanrahan (L6B) and Justin Lok (L6R), to do well. 

The competition requires the team to work through a series of tough experimental tasks with unerring accuracy, to also make swift and precise calculations and to record them clearly; all within a strict time limit.  The field was strong, consisting of 18 teams selected from across the region from as far afield as Bury-St Edmunds and King's Lynn. Many of the teams struggled with organisation and did not finish, and many others did not have the skills necessary to perform tasks to a sufficient degree of accuracy. The Norwich School team, however, showed both great organisation and outstanding technical ability and stormed to victory. This made Norwich School the regional RSC Young Analyst champions for the second year in a row.  

Congratulations to all members of the team. They now await the outcome of a tie-breaker round to see whether they will be representing the school at the national final.
