Norwich School welcomes Dr Michael Brooke from the University of Cambridge for latest RGS Lecture

29 March 2022

Norwich School has for many years been proud to host the East of England branch of the Royal Geographical Society in their excellent series of public lectures delivered by experienced and engaging experts. The School hosts a programme of interesting talks on site throughout the year to enhance the school’s intellectual offering to its community of pupils, alumni, friends and parents, and these lectures form part of that.

An appreciative audience on 24th March 2022 were treated to a talk in Norwich School’s Chapel given by Dr Michael Brooke, Curator of Ornithology at the University of Cambridge's Museum of Zoology, entitled 'Far from land: Our knowledge of what seabirds do at sea'

They learned how advances in tiny geo-location devices fitted to seabirds are providing invaluable and surprising insights to help our understanding of the mysteries of these hardy birds on the high seas far away from their breeding grounds. A lively Q&A session followed from an intellectually curious and engaged audience.

The next lecture in the series is: Sons of the waves: The common seaman in the heroic age of sail, given by recognised authority Stephen Taylor to be held on April 26th 2022 in Norwich School’s Blake Studio from 7pm. All are welcome, with £5.00 entry on the door and free to students. Find out more here.
