Lent Term Dinner Raises Record Amount

10 March 2023

On the 24 February, the Charities Committee hosted the Lower Sixth Lent Term Dinner. Committee member, Madeleine Greenly (L6) reports on the event...

"The Charities Committee is a community service group comprised of Lower Sixth students who meet weekly to discuss new ways to raise money for the fantastic charities that we support as a school.

This year the committee chose to make the Lent Term Dinner Great Gatsby themed and everyone came dressed to impress in their 1920s inspired outfits and the committee dressed the Refectory with gold and black balloons, candles and black table cloths to add to the feeling of glamour. During the evening, we played a thrilling game of Heads or Tails which engaged everybody in the room and created lots of excitement. To add to this, we held a raffle with a plethora of prizes such as local Wymondham Rugby Club gin and a Nuffield Health experience. Guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal from Thomas Franks.

The Lent Term Dinner raised money for the Norfolk and Norwich Hospitals Charity, which was voted for by the whole Senior School. On the night, we were delighted to be joined by the Director of the charity John-Paul Garside, who spoke to guests about the life-changing impact their generous donations have on the people the charity benefits.

In total, we raised £1790.92 which is absolutely amazing and is apparently a record for this event! The Charities Committee are incredibly proud of the event and the amount raised."
