The school year always starts with a buzz in the Music Department, as pupils rehearse for the House Music Festival. The Festival took place earlier this week with some magnificent performances in the solo classes in the School Chapel plus ensemble classes and House Songs in St Andrew’s Hall.
We were delighted to welcome Paul Harris as our adjudicator. Mr Harris is a renowned music educator - he teaches at the Royal Academy of Music and has written over 600 books on music education.
Huge congratulations go to Coke House, as overall Festival winners.
House Music Captain Eliza Prior says "this is the second year running that Coke have won House Music. I am so happy and so proud of the Coke team who worked so hard to put our entries together."
Repton were the House Song winners with their rendition of Treasure by Bruno Mars.

Prior to the House Song performances, the whole school were treated to the Bernard Burrell prizewinner, Alice Platten, singing Poor Wandering One by Gilbert & Sullivan. The Bernard Burrell prizewinner is selected from the solo class winners.
Congratulations are also in order to the ensemble winners. Brooke won the instrumental category with a performance of Disney tunes arranged by their House Music Captain, Rosemary Zhang. For the choral category, Coke won with Happy Together by The Turtles.
