Hampton Head Rowing Report

04 February 2024

This weekend was a busy one for the Boat Club with racing on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday saw rowers from M5 to U6 racing in London at Hampton Head against some of the biggest rowing schools in the country. Conditions were tricky with strong tailwind and stream, making the 3km course go by very quickly. We saw stand out results from our J15 boys coxed quad, who came second narrowly missing out on victory by 0.6s to Westminster School. Our Senior Boys coxless came 3rd in a very competitive field racing crews older than themselves. The J15 Girls coxed quad also showed their impressive speed finishing 9th in a competitive category along with senior pair finishing 7th against other GB trialists. The Senior Boys 1st 8 lay down a solid mark for the rest of the season with 5th place in a tight field. Other results were: 10th and 12th in the J15 boys and girls 8s respectively, 7th and 12th place by our senior girls 4s, 23rd and 27th by the senior boys and girls doubles and 6th and 19th by the senior boys 2nd 8 and Girls J15 2nd quad.

Sunday saw a return to the GB training centre for the senior pair with another day of training and racing in preparation for the February Trials at the beginning of half term.
