What better way to spend a cold mid-winter evening than at the Friends of Norwich School Burns Supper on 3 February, raising charitable funds, whilst having a great evening’s entertainment.

The main attraction was the presence of Dynamo the world-famous magician, brought to us thanks to the wonderful generosity of Karpet Kingdom of Lowestoft who were the lead sponsor of the evening. Together with his accomplice Tom from The Traitors TV programme, Dynamo performed up-close table magic to an astonished audience. His array of classy tricks were simply amazing, accompanied by regular loud gasps and spontaneous applause from eagle-eyed guests looking intently on.

Whilst the magic was taking place, our guests were treated to a fantastic three course traditional Scottish supper cooked by our skillful in-house caterers, including haggis for the braver gastronomes. As protocol demands, the ritual of the parade and address to the haggis took place, beautifully performed by professional actor Natalie Woodward (ON 09-13), accompanied on the bagpipes by the inimitable Pipe Sergeant John Welton MBE.

The evening concluded (as any good Burns Night should) with a whisky tasting courtesy of our friends at Macinnes Whisky.

All profits from the night are used by the Friends of Norwich School to fund bursaries to ensure a diverse and inclusive school community; equipment for clubs and societies to encourage opportunity; and a prize fund to encourage aspiration.

Thanks go to all who took part and especially to those volunteers who put in a lot of work to create a truly memorable evening, and certainly one that will live long in the memory.
